Waterfowl

 

There is nothing like having a few ducks and geese to complete your farm. They are great at foraging and keeping bugs, snakes, spiders and insects away.  Ducks and Geese both are less likely to get diseases than chickens.

 

Muscovy

Muscovy ducks are a quackless duck, they require less water than regular ducks. They are a duel purpose breed (meat and egg production). It is said Muscovy meat is better than Pekin duck meat. Muscovy can fly so that needs to be taken into account. 

 

Call Ducks

Call ducks originated from Mallards. The female Call ducks were originally bred for hunters to use while hunting, they would "call" to the wild mallards. Call ducks are a bantam breed of duck. We just love watching our "mini ducks". 

 

Geese

We keep geese as pets but they also make great watch dogs. Our flock is made up of three Toulouse and one Tufted Roman. We plan to try raising a few goslings this year for meat and to add to our pet flock.
